Poland’s largest digital skills test returns. Thousands of students to take part
The next edition of the IT Fitness Test – Poland’s largest digital skills assessment for schools – is now underway. The project brings together students and teachers from across the country, who will tackle tasks related to everyday use of technology. Following record participation in the previous edition, the organisers believe this year’s test will attract even more participants and provide further insight into how young people’s digital skills are developing in Poland.
The IT Fitness Test is the largest initiative in Poland assessing digital competencies among students and teachers. Its aim is to verify practical skills in using technology in everyday life. Participants complete tasks related to, among others, searching for information online, assessing the credibility of sources, online safety, and working with documents and digital tools.
“Digital skills are now one of the key foundations of a modern economy and society. If we want to build a strong, technology-driven economy, we must invest in developing young people’s skills already at the school level,” said Michał Kanownik, President of the Digital Poland Association, which organises the project.
Growing interest nationwide
Each year, the IT Fitness Test attracts an increasing number of participants from across Poland. In the previous edition, more than 80,000 students and teachers took part, demonstrating the growing interest in developing digital skills in Polish schools. High participation not only helps promote digital education but also allows organisers to better analyse the level of technological competencies among young people in Poland.
“In research projects, it is crucial to assess the skills of as broad a group of students as possible – not only those who are already highly engaged. The more participants take part, the more valuable the results. At the same time, the initiative itself encourages young people to further develop their digital skills. The ability to navigate the digital world efficiently gives them a better start in the labour market and helps them adapt to a rapidly changing reality,” Michał Kanownik explained.
The President of Digital Poland Association added that the results of the test are evaluated each year by experts, forming the basis for recommendations for the education sector. The organisation also develops additional educational programmes.
Participation pays off
To take part in the IT Fitness Test, all that is needed is a computer with internet access. Students can choose a level tailored to their stage of education – for primary and secondary schools – while the most advanced participants can take on the extended IT Master Test.
Each participant receives a personalised certificate confirming their result. The top performers can win attractive prizes – both individual awards for students and teachers, as well as prizes for schools with the highest participation rates and best results. This year’s edition runs until 31 October. The test is available at: https://itfitness.eu/pl/
The IT Fitness Test is held under the patronage of the Minister of Digital Affairs, the Minister of National Education, the Minister of Science, and the Ministry of Development and Technology, as well as NASK. Technology partners and prize sponsors include AMD, Dell Technologies, HP, iSpot, Lenovo, and Samsung.
